I cannot rate this apartment and location highly enough. To be able to walk on the beach, all the way to the next cove at low tide, and then pop back to the apartment for coffee or lunch on the balcony whilst watching the surf is unparalleled. Watching the sunset and then lying in bed listening to the surf at night is bliss. The apartment has been very thoughtfully and tastefully set out. I have been coming back here for over 20 years and have found nothing to match it.

Don't hesitate booking Whispering Waves - you won't be disappointed.This was our 4th year staying there and we'll come back next year too
Stunning view from the balcony, modern, clean, well equipped and comfortable accommodation.
Close to the Blue Bar and the Beach Cafe for good food and the Village Store is just up the road. Book now, to avoid disappointment. Have a lovely holiday !

We had a fabulous stay in Sunsets for a week in May / June 2026. The accommodation is decorated to a high standard. Very light, bright, clean and tidy. Well equipped kitchen. The balcony is very large, and allows for amazing views - the best views of any of the apartments in the row of apartments. (We have stayed in a number of them over the years). Tried to rebook as soon as we left, but already booked for the week we wanted next year. Would definitely book again and would highly recommend.

Recently returned from another fabulous stay in Porthtowan. We had a wonderful stay, this time in the newly renovated apartment Surf ‘n’ Sands. The kitchen has everything you could possible need for self catering. The lounge area has a large sofa and we were able to see the waves crashing on the beach. This apartment has a bigger patio door so we were able to open it right up to soak in the atmosphere and beach sounds. We were lucky with the weather which meant we could sit on the balcony; the view is breathtaking and watching the waves so mesmerising. The mezzanine bedroom has two velux windows and the bed was extremely comfortable. So much so, that lying in bed in the morning with a coffee listening to the waves crashing was just heaven. The second bedroom has two equally comfortable single beds and the bathroom has plenty of storage and the shower was incredible.
The apartments are easy to find and you can park right next to them to unload and then the allocated parking spot is literally a minute away.
Porthtowan is gorgeous, we had many walks along the beach and if you take wellies and walk to the right of the beach to find the hidden mermaid pool. You can also walk parts of the coastal path and quite quickly come across an old mine Wheal Tye, which is very interesting. Eating in Porthtowan is also superb. The Unicorn does the most amazing Sunday roast dinners and their fish and chips is also delicious.
Just outside the apartments is a beach cafe that does equally delicious bacon rolls to start the day.
We have stayed in Sunsets and Surf ‘n’ Sands and they are equally fabulous. We have booked for next year in Whispering Waves to complete the trio. Accommodation prices are also very reasonable. We have come to love our autumn stays here; it is the most perfect, peaceful place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of busy lives. Sarah is a brilliant host and always happy to help answer any questions you have, even replying to my numerous enquires while she was on holiday herself. I cannot recommend these apartments enough.

This was our third stay at Sunsets and it never disappoints. Everything you need is right in the village and the views are amazing. Lovely walks close by and the beautiful beach, what more do you need! Sarah is very responsive and we cannot fault the property at all. Will definitely be back!!

We keep coming back to Sunsets at Porthtowan as it can’t be beaten. It’s beachside and the right side of the cove for the afternoon and evening sun and the balcony is a glorious spot. The apartment has always been spotless, with everything we need and the beds are comfy.

We had a lovely stay in Surf 'n' Sands. Sarah is a great host and makes sure that all the smallest details are perfect - nothing is too much trouble. The apartment is fabulous - great location (you can see the queue for the ice cream shop from your balcony!), wonderful views (I lost count of how many sunsets I took photographs of), and it's really well furnished with everything you need for a short break away. We will definitely be booking again.

One word. Wow!! Such a wonderfully located property with a view from the balcony that I wish you could bottle!!
Beautifully styled sunny seaside apartment. Fully equipped kitchen, even an entire cupboard of plastic items to take down the beach. Everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable and easy. With everything on your doorstep you don’t even need to leave Porthtowan unless you want to. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend this magical place.

Oh wow! What a perfect location, we so look forward to returning to Porthtowan to stay at Sunsets each year.
Something happens when you arrive, walk through the door at Sunsets and get to sit on the balcony.. suddenly you get to relax and take in the sea air..everything is going to be alright!.
Sunsets is clean, tidy and well maintained. It has all that you need and of good standard, the location to the beach is amazing. A must would be to sit on the balcony with a glass in hand and soak up the amazing Sunsets, you can't beat it.
My husband said its great to have a parking space and not having to worry about the car all week!

Whispering Waves is a wonderful place to stay. The apartment is clean, tidy and very well equipped for a perfect holiday.
The balcony overlooking the beach and sea is magnificent. We had wonderful evenings eating dinner whilst watching the sun slowly setting. It is a truly magical place.
Porthtowan is a great place for walking, surfing and relaxing. It also has excellent transport links.

Absolutely fantastic location as virtually on Porthtowan beach, with everything (convenience shop, cafe, bar, pub, fish & chips, and kids play park etc) all within a few hundred meters.
The open plan living space has floor to ceiling patio windows onto the large balcony with table and chairs, and directly overlooks the sea so plenty of people and surfer watching opportunities!
Always spotlessly clean, useful efficient heaters (one stay was off season) loads of hot water, comfy beds, and there is a parking permit for a space just a short walk away.
Looking to book for the third time in 2025, as are family members who love it as much as I do.

What a wonderful hidden gem. Sunsets is a fabulous apartment, with a super balcony that overlooks the beach. Two spacious bedrooms, the mezzanine main bedroom is comfortable and very relaxing, especially with the velux window enabling you to sleep to the sound of the waves. The twin bedroom is a good size and as a party of four adults we had plenty of space. The kitchen is well equipped, although with three wonderful eating establishments within a stones throw, we didn’t do much cooking ourselves. The seating area is comfortable and on a dreary day we turned the sofa around and sat watching the enormous waves rolling in. Porthtowan itself is a beautiful setting. We spent a lot of time exploring the beach and bays and watching the surfers. There are also lovely costal walks in both directions. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of a busy life and we will hopefully be back before too long. Sarah is a wonderful host and any queries are promptly responded too.

My wife and I have been coming to Whispering Waves every year for 20 + years, almost from the beginning - if that isn't a recommendation in itself! ! Recently updated to a very high standard the apartment is clean, comfortable, well appointed, peaceful and welcoming.We love it, the balcony is almost on the beach or the dunes.
The sound of the waves take away all your stresses and long walks on the stunning peaceful beaches are pure magic. Sit on the stone bench on the cliffs above and feel the wonder and power of the fabulous ocean.
Whether you are a surfer or a beach comber, a paddler or a swimmer, a walker or a watcher of waves you will not be disappointed. JW

Highly recommended. We've just booked it for our third year running, so it shows it's good !
Wonderful location and nice and quiet, for a good nights sleep.. Nicely decorated apartment with a modern, well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher.
Very comfy bed, good shower and bath in the modern bathroom. Free parking bay.
Close to the Blue Bar and Beach Cafe for superb food and drinks, a well stocked gift shop below, surf board hire next door
Beautiful view of the beach and a lovely balcony to sip a G&T and watch the sunsets.

We love staying at Sunsets having been here numerous times over the years. The apartment is very well designed and maintained. It’s always spotless and welcoming. The location of the apartment is incredible with sea views from the lounge . There is a lovely balcony for four people where you can immerse yourself in the surroundings and feel even closer to the sea …. And the beautiful sunsets of course. You can explore on foot straight from the door so if you don’t want to be driving around you really do not have to. The local bar and pub have a great atmosphere and the ice cream and fish and chips are a must. We have often booked Sunsets at the same time friends or family have booked Whispering Waves to make it into an even bigger experience. We’ve visited in the summer and in October and both times of year offer something different. Because it’s not as well known as other parts of Cornwall, even in peak season it never feels overrun with people. The host Sarah is brilliant and always available to help with anything we may need. We will definitely be back again.

We had a wonderful stay in this property. The location is superb, with shops, cafes, and pubs close by.
Whispering Waves has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The property was clean, well equipped and everything worked.
We especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking out to sea. It's a lovely property in a fantastic location.

This is our fourth consecutive year at Sunsets. 10/10. Couldn't fault it. Perfect in every way.
The village is not overcrowded and has an amazing beach and walking paths. There's an amazing ice cream parlour, a surf shop, two surf schools, two restraurants, Fish and Chip shop, a cafe and a village shop with reasonable prices.
The apartment is fully equipped and always clean and immaculate. You literally can't get an accomodation any closer to the beach. The sunset from the balcony is amazing.
The host is the best I've dealt with, goes above and beyond.
This trip is the highlight of our year. Can't wait to go back next year.

What a fantastic apartment this is! Spotlessly clean, exceptionally well-appointed and in a fabulous location - practically right on the beach.
We've had an awesome weekend and feel very relaxed following a stressful time.
