From your doorstep, you can access some of the most spectacular stretches of the South West Coast Path. Walk east to Chapel Porth, framed by towering cliffs and engine house ruins, or west to St Agnes Head, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views and a real sense of Cornish heritage. Wildflowers, seabirds, and endless sea views accompany you along the way.

The village itself offers everything you need for a relaxing stay:

Just inland, Elm Farm offers a change of pace with bike hire and access to the scenic Mineral Tramways Coast to Coast Trail, a peaceful, mostly off-road cycle route stretching from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south. It’s perfect for exploring Cornwall’s rich mining heritage, with a backdrop of woodland, moorland, and wide open skies.

Nearby, the neighbouring beach of Portreath is just a short drive away – another beautiful spot to explore, with its own charm and coastal views.

Porthtowan is also perfectly located for discovering the wider area. In under half an hour, you can reach:

• The cathedral city of Truro

• The surfing haven of Perranporth

• The harbourside town of Falmouth

• And further afield, iconic attractions like St Ives, The Eden Project, and The Lost Gardens of Heligan

For those who love dramatic coastlines, peaceful nature, and space to breathe, Porthtowan and the surrounding area offer a truly memorable Cornish escape – where every walk is a view worth capturing and every day ends with the sound of the waves.

• From the M5, take exit 30 to join the A30.
• Continue on the A30 for about 100 miles, passing Carland Cross (there will be windmills to your right), until you reach Chiverton Cross. Exit here. 
• Take the 5th exit off the roundabout, sign posted St Agnes.
• Continue on the road for a mile or so until you come to a crossroads, where you turn left, signposted Porthtowan.
• At the end of this road go straight across, again following signs to Porthtowan.
• Stay on this road until you see the sea on your right, head down the hill and turn right at the bottom into Beach Road. Head straight through the village until you come to the car park on your right.
• Once in the car park head left towards The Beach Shop sign. This is the end of the apartments.
• You will see a gap in the wall....this is the rear access to the apartments. Once inside you will find a parking permit.
• Unload your car, then take it out of the car park turning left and immediate left again. You will see houses on the left, and our car park is immediately behind them.
• The spaces are numbered. You park in 20, ensuring the permit is clearly displayed.
